The Marshall Plan, also known as The European Recovery Program, was the American proposal to assist Europe economically to help rebuild European finances after World War II. This program was in action for four years beginning in April 1948. The goals for the United States were to reconstruct war-devastated regions, remove barrier for trade, modernize industry, and make Europe flourish again. The Marshall Plan was developed after popular leader and soldier George Marshall who presented this to the graduating class of Harvard University on June 5, 1947.
